Once a year we open a call for Residencies for artists at La Casa Móvil. Our intention is to receive artists from all over the world in the unique rural and natural environment of the Sierra de Cádiz, generating a network of exchange and connection with local artists and projects.
Algodonales is a white village located 60 minutes from Seville, 60 minutes from Jerez and 90 minutes from Malaga, at the foothills of the Sierra de Líjar, in a wonderful natural environment, surrounded by mountains, forests, river, old orchards and crossed by the water that runs through the irrigation ditches from one end of the village to the other. This enclave makes this place a unique context to link with nature and create in/with it. Our residence promotes CARE as a fundamental aspect and therefore, everything related to our own inner listening, to a greater awareness of life and the processes linked to the earth, the return to the body, attention to aspects such as emotional and spiritual. And all this from a personal and community perspective.
Our main objective is to promote artistic exploration and creation as well as the exhibition of works and processes of our residents.
In addition, we are especially interested in generating a rich climate of personal and cultural exchange between international and local creators, expanding individual and shared experiences and including new languages that help to make contemporary art visible in the rural environment and to generate a broader, richer and more diverse contact with nature and with the people.
STUDIOS AND EXHIBITION SPACE
The house has space to accommodate 4 or 5 artists simultaneously in spacious rooms-workshops for individual use with private bathrooms. We also have a common area which is a work and exhibition space. We work in collaboration with the EcoAlbergue of Algodonales which has a large room for body work and wonderful outdoor garden areas. And the Algodonales Town Hall also offers us the exhibition room in the Local Art Museum of the village.
The house has wifi connection, interior patio with swimming pool, fully equipped kitchen and exterior work area.
Artists of any artistic discipline are welcome as long as their approaches are related to the philosophy and proposal of La Casa Móvil.

* We have access to a ceramic kiln in a workshop in Ronda.
Projects must be carried out within the two-week residency period. Artists in Residence will be able to exhibit their work to the public at an Open House on the last Sunday of their stay, having the opportunity to share their creative process and their experience at the Residence with the people.
The artists in Residence who opt for one of the places, will receive a grant from La Casa Móvil that covers half the cost of the Residence which is a total of 700€ and for a period of two weeks. Therefore each artist will be responsible for the payment of 350€ + taxes (10%). This covers accommodation, use of workshop, heating, water and pick up from the nearest arrival points (Malaga or Seville), as well as advice, mentoring and art therapy accompaniment (one individual session/artist).
Each artist is asked to leave a small art work from their period of residence or to submit a workshop proposal to be carried out with local residents.
Artists must raise their own funding. The Mobile Home can assist artists seeking grants by providing a letter of invitation.
